Success Lies OUTSIDE Your Comfort
Zone!

When I first saw Simon Zutshi on stage, I was impressed – but he was talking about
property and I didn’t think it was relevant to this coaching blog.
I was wrong! As a result of that conference, I watched some of his DVDs and was lucky
enough to see him again at another seminar which was based on building and establishing your financial future.
What struck me was the energy and passion he exuded in his words, stance and
actions. Incisive and demanding of our own actions, he still managed to radiate empathy at the
same time.
Simon said, very emphatically, that you should push yourself when tired, rather than using
the tiredness as an excuse not to do something (of course there’s a limit, but you will find it’s further
along than you think).
As he spoke, he practised what he preached – his speaking slot started at 6.30pm on a
Sunday, and was the last of a full weekend’ seminars. He refused to accept our slumped postures and tired faces,
and within minutes the energy was buzzing.
It made me think about applying it to coaching sessions – how would you ramp up
your energy and your clients’, so you all get as much out of the session as possible?
He believes in thinking differently and challenging limiting beliefs – our own as well as
our clients’. He is adamant that success lies outside our comfort zones, and doing well but trundling
along is not the same thing.
What’s your personal definition of success? What do you want to achieve, and why? What can
you do today that’s pushing you, and that will get you started on that path?
Like many very successful people, he talks about taking action … but also about developing
the desire, inspiration and motivation to take those actions. He focused, however, not on big actions, but on
simple, consistent, smaller actions – ones that are simple to do, that won’t necessarily have an immediate effect,
but will certainly have a cumulative one.
He also remarked that these simple actions, though easy to do, can be just as simple
not to do, so watch out!
Finally he talked about how rich people think long term and poor people think short
term, and how most people are too busy earning a living to have any time to create wealth.
As a coach, this is just as pertinient for you as your clients. How could you make your
money work for you? Maybe take a leaf from Simon’s book and invest in property (yes, even in this recession – and
he can show you how), or consider making products of your own that you can sell time and time again to start
building a passive income. More on that another time.
In the meantime, keep at it, and benefit, not suffer, from this recession.
