It's Not That Easy!

As a result of the last newsletter, we had a few emails. One in particular made us think.

It was from Barry Lee of Community Motivators.

He said, “There are things that are outside of your control – like being told that you are in a job, but not being given any idea of the hours that you will work for two weeks.”

He’s quite right.

Other things outside your control include:

  • A pipe bursting
  • Your child is ill
  • You are ill
  • Your shifts are changed without enough notice
  • Your computer / computer monitor / car / washing machine blow up (yes, they’ve all happened to us this year)
  • Your partner stops supporting your new adventure
  • You get distracted by the latest gimmicky Get Rich Quick venture
  • You just get distracted anyway
  • The work you’re doing for/with your client tales three times as long as anticipated
  • … and plenty of obscure ones we can’t bring to mind just now

One thing we’ve learned to do is work out how much time we think something will take, and then treble it!

That way, we can usually get the tasks done on time.

If it turns out we’ve got spare time, we use it for research, marketing, and play.

What about you?
