Andy Harrington pt 1

Are you a fearful entrepreneur, or a
successful entrepreneur?
A few weeks ago, we went to a seminar where Andy Harrington was speaking. Andy is a leading authority on peak performance strategies.
Jacqui Carrel with speaker Andy Harrington
An accomplished speaker who radiates empathy and purpose, he still hits home hard with his messages.
He was unequivocal about what makes so many people fail in their
business.
(Remember, failure doesn’t necessarily mean not earning a lot of money – it can also be how about
whether you’ve met other objectives, such as feeling that you are giving worth, and that you have a good
work-life balance.)
In relation to you as a coach, here is our take on what he said.
The FEs are what fearful entrepreneurs do, and the SEs are what the successful ones do. The idea is
to ditch your FEs and build your SEs.
FE: People whose ideas are stuck inside their heads, and not actualised.
SE: You have specific goals that you have written down, and you have a plan – it’s easy to get your
clients to do this, and have you done it recently?
FE: People who stick with old, outdated ideas.
SE: You invest in ideas, concepts, training and products that give you the edge.
You don’t just have to go to seminars and buy products that are designed for coaches – try ones that
are under the umbrellas of ‘Internet Marketing’ and ‘Wealth Creation’ as well.
FE: People who work very hard, but not very smart (that is, a lot of effort for little return, and
no free time).
SE: You are making sure you leverage your time, money and people – take time to build relationships
and do some quid pro quo work or joint ventures with people.
FE: People who make excuses.
SE: You not only make decisions instead of excuses, you make decisions more often. If the result of
the decision isn’t what you wanted, you will at least have feedback and will be able to adjust future
decisions accordingly.
Basically the message here is: You can make money OR excuses!
FE: People who make expensive mistakes … and, like following shampoo instructions, repeat the
process.
SE: You make sure you use specialist coaches and mentors rather than just buying into the next
wheeze. And yes, all the successful coaches have coaches and mentors themselves.
FE: People who are inward looking and quite ego-centric.
SE: You influence large numbers of people – maybe, for example, by creating a product and making
sure it’s distributed to many more people than you could actually coach at any one time.
